OCR: Macintosh TROUBLE SHOOTER Control Panels: Cache Switch / Speech Cache Switch v7.0.1 This 68040 Cache Switch control panel, allows older Mac programs that were not optimised to work with (at the time) later 68k CPUs, to function without crashing. Faster (Caches Enabled) More Compatible (Caches Disabled) Whether or not you require this control panel, depends entirely on the programs you currently use. If any of them pre-date back to the mid 80's to 1990 then use this 040 Cache Switch. Some applications will not work correctly when the processor's caches are enabled. To use the 040 or even 060 in your Amiga, at full speed, switch on "Faster (Caches Enabled)". To use old software, that are likely to crash, ie. Packit III, switch it over to "More Compatible (Caches Disabled)". I recommend that you keep this control panel in your System Folder, somewhere, just in case you need it later on. Speech The Speech control panel is not very useful in my opinion, the only thing it does (in System 7.5 and above, I believe) is to voice the text you see on screen - see the AppleGuide text for further info.
